If you have to install the manufacturer-supplied device driver on the test computer, do this now.Ĭheck that the fingerprint reader functions correctly on the test computer. If the test device is connected through the USB port, connect the USB 2.0 controller to the high-speed USB 2.0 hub, and then connect the test device to the downstream port of the high-speed USB 2.0 hub.ĭo not connect the USB test device directly to the root hub of the USB 2.0 controller.Īttach the fingerprint reader to the test computer. Install the appropriate Windows operating system on the test computer, and then configure the computer for your test network (the network that contains the Windows HLK Studio and Windows HLK Controller. To configure the test computer for your test device, follow these steps: The latest Windows HLK filters or updates. The following software is required for testing a fingerprint reader: HypervisorEnforcedCodeIntegrity:REG_DWORD Once that has occurred, the following Registry key must be created and set: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard The Virtualization Based Security feature (VBS) of Windows Server 2016 must be enabled using Server Manager first. Test personnel must make sure that the first test computer in the list meets the minimum hardware requirements. The default computer is the first test computer in the list. You must manually configure this computer to have multiple processor groups.
As long as the driver is the same on all the computers in the pool, the system creates a schedule to run against all test computers.įor tests that do not include a driver to test, such as hard disk drive tests, the Windows HLK scheduler constrains the tests that validate the device's and driver's Rebalance, D3 State and Multiple Processor Groups functionality to run on the default test computer. Additionally, that computer must contain the device and the driver that you want to test.
If you use a pool of test computers to test devices, at least one computer in the pool must contain four processors and a minimum of 1 GB of RAM. For more information see Windows Server Installation Options. Additionally, the server system(s) being used for device or driver testing must have Server Core installed prior to testing. You do not need a computer that actually has more than 64 processors to test your device. These system capabilities are required to test the Rebalance, D3 State, and Multiple Processor Group functionality of the device and driver. Useful in Very Specific CircumstancesĪll in all, FingerPrint is a program with one very specific function: to look for any unwanted changes in your files. With the scheduling feature, you won’t have to go out of your way to do it. It can be helpful to know if your files are being modified. Honestly, it may not be necessary, but it’s also not worthless. It doesn’t have any other function than that. All it does is let users know if their files have been changed or not. Probably the biggest question regarding this program is whether or not it’s really a necessary program to have. FingerPrint also has a scheduling feature that allows users to scan their files automatically. With more files, it does take a little bit more time, but as mentioned before, it’s not that big of a deal. There are a lot of additional options that the users can modify in order to scan their files with more accuracy. Creating a new profile isn’t difficult at all. Creating new profiles is an incredibly helpful feature that allows users to create a quick shortcut to the most important folders that need to be scanned often. You can still perform other tasks while it scans your folders. What’s great about it is that the software doesn’t take up a lot of machine resources to perform its task. The program performs most of its task quickly and efficiently. There are also menus at the top but they just repeat the actions of the buttons below. Below that window are buttons to perform actions such as creating a new profile, modifying profiles, deleting profiles, running scans, scheduling scans, and closing the program. You can sort the profiles by type, last run, result, and whether it’s scheduled or not. The only thing in the interface is a window where the profiles and results are displayed.
